Perfect place to stay

Angus May 2022

Sarah's cottage was the perfect place to stay to explore the Coonawarra. The cottage is super cosy, with a very comfy bed, an amazing fire place in the living room, and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and more. The cottage was generously stocked with firewood and port, all little touches that really made the stay. The building was quiet with no real neighbors, yet still super close to Penola town centre. I would highly recommend you stay here when in Penola!

Exploring the Coonawarra

Hayley December 2022

The photos don’t do this place and the location justice. It’s situated right around the corner from the supermarket and town centre with cafes and cellar doors at your finger tips. Jennifer left thoughtful touches around the cottage and we were sad to leave this little home away from home! Highly recommend as a base for exploring the Coonawarra and coast.

History notes and antique pieces were such a treat

We had such a lovely time at Sarah's cottage.  Many thanks. It is so well put together and the little details really make the place special and the history notes and antique pieces were such a treat to discover.

Fantastic place

A fantastic place to base a visit to the Coonawarra and environs

Sarah's cottage is a relatively new accommodation offering in Penola and should be at the top of your list. Its a beautifully restored 1870's cottage, with plenty of local history, and its just a very short walk to the centre of town and good food at Pipers of Penola and the Royal Oak Hotel.

The cottage has four nicely sized rooms (bedroom with queen bed, lounge room with fire place for winter, kitchen with dining table and huge bathroom with spa bath). The property has a nice garden and front and rear veradahs to find a shady spot to read a book or enjoy a glass of local wine (or both). And while being so close to town, it sits by itself on some parkland. So you have a great sense of privacy and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. And there are so many options, such as the wonderful wines of the Coonawarra, or a ride on the newly surfaced 19km rail trail, Naracoorte Caves and the amazing fossils, or down to the coast at many locations, or Millicent and their museum or Mount Gambier.

Definitely a great option.

Great short stay

Susan and Apollo August 2022

The property was very well presented, quirky and inviting. It contained everything that we needed. Love the open fire. It’s well situated - quiet but close to the main centre - and we loved our stay.

An amazing space which is welcoming and homely.

Jennifer November 2022

The attention to detail in considering guests' needs is impeccable. The selection of wine, port and scotch glasses is impressive. The little touches like placing 2 umbrellas at the back door and ensuring port wine was available for a nightly nip was most appreciated. The linen on the bed and towels makes you feel like your at a 5 star hotel. The cottage is a short walk to most restaurants and the local supermarket and bakery. We were lucky to stay when the garden was in full bloom. We loved staying here. Happy to recommend this place as a well loved and cared for home away from home.
